I write for fun and I was bored and decided to write a Poem about our troops coming home.
Lemme know what you think....Not sure what to call it.
Fighting for my brother's life
Fighting for my lovely wife.
I lay my life on the line
Day after day, this war is mine.
I dream of combat and death
I breath it in on every breath.
A dream of home is a nightmare
When I awake I can't help but stare.
It hurts too much to think of it.
I can't afford to get hit.
My tour is coming to an end
I'm about to break, I can't bend.
My last patrol, my last night
This is it, it's my last fight.
Fighting for my brother's life
Fighting for my lovely wife.
I lay my life on the line
Day after day, this war is mine.
Tracers and mortars pass me by
The silence is deafening, as I sigh.
It's finally over, I'm finally done
No more adrenaline, no more fun.
I'm coming home to my girl
My life is spinning in a whirl
I can't wait to hold her in my arms
I can't help but worry 'bout my brothers in arms
Fighting for my brother's life
Fighting for my lovely wife.
I lay my life on the line
Day after day, this war is mine.
I'm finally on home land
On my own two feet, I can barely stand
My little girl runs up to me
The tears fill my eyes, I can't see.
With a jump she says, "I missed you Daddy"
"I missed you too baby"
"I love you Daddy" she whispers in my ears.
I hold her tight, choking back the tears.
I dream of home and family
I breath it in as it's all I see.
A dream of combat is a nightmare
When I awake I can't help but stare.
It hurts too much to think of it.
I have to find a way back to it.
Fighting for my brother's life
Fighting for my lovely wife.
I lay my life on the line
Day after day, this war is mine.
Lemme know what you think....Not sure what to call it.
Fighting for my brother's life
Fighting for my lovely wife.
